MODIFIED MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD ESTIMATION IN
BURR TYPE X DISTRIBUTION
by R.R.L.Kantam, and M.S.Ravikumar.
Some estimation procedures for the Burr type X distribution is considered. The
well known classical method – maximum likelihood (ML) estimation is attempted resulting
in iterative solutions as the MLEs of the parameters. Hence, attempt to develop reasonably
efficient and computationally simple/analytical, estimates by modified ML estimation
through two different methods is made. Comparison with exact MLEs in small as well as
large samples is also presented.
