MODIFIED MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD ESTIMATION IN BURR TYPE X DISTRIBUTION

by R.R.L.Kantam, and M.S.Ravikumar.

Abstract: Some estimation procedures for the Burr type X distribution is considered. The well known classical method maximum likelihood (ML) estimation is attempted resulting in iterative solutions as the MLEs of the parameters. Hence, attempt to develop reasonably efficient and computationally simple/analytical, estimates by modified ML estimation through two different methods is made. Comparison with exact MLEs in small as well as large samples is also presented.

Key Words: Key Words Burr type X distribution, Log likelihood, Asymptotic Variance, MLE, Order Statistics.
