Range Estimation: A Monte Carlo Examination of Variability, Sample Size and Distributional Shape

Abstract: Examines estimation of the range from the sample standard deviation for different sample sizes. Considers the Normal, Uniform and Poisson distributions. Provides tables for estimating the range from the standrd deviation and the standard deviation from the range for different size samples.
